Summer Scent

Hello you lovely lot!

It’s been a very exciting few days here with Mabel’s arrival. She’s settling in great and Maximus is being an amazing big brother!

Anyway back to what I actually want to talk about… summer. Where has it gone? Was it really all over in a few days? With the recent gloomy weather I had this urge to light all the candles and pull out all the blankets. But I really wanted a fresh summer scent, nothing too heavy. I do tend to favour bold fragrances like Jo Malone’s Pine and Eucalyptus (it’s a dream – if you haven’t tried this already do so!). However this isn’t the best fragrance in summer as it does smell like you’ve walked into a department store at Christmas. Step in Neom Organics! I’ve always loved Neom’s range of fragrances but this one has me hooked!

Neom Organics – Feel Refreshed Candle

A blend of Sicilian lemon and basil as well as essential oils which are meant to give you a boost. The scent is really uplifting and definitely refreshing.

The scent definitely fills a room in very little time at all. Even Nick noticed it… this is something that never happens! For me it adds a touch of summer and on these horrible grey days I think we are in need of that are we not?!

What are your favourite summer fragrances and perfumes? Let me know in the comments below or over on Instagram (@welliesandwonder_)

Until next time,

Yorkshire Day!

Hello you lovely lot!

Today is the day to celebrate the most gorgeous county – Yorkshire!

Now I am a gal originally from Lancashire…. oh the controversy I know! However I have been in Yorkshire since I was 18. First in Leeds while at university and then in York before settling in Pocklington, just outside of york. I adore this county and its people. It is my home and today I will happily wear a white rose… much to my families dismay I’m sure 😂

To celebrate I thought I would share some of my favourite pictures and show you the beautiful Yorkshire in all of its glory! I’m so unbelievably lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

Bolton Abbey – Skipton

Allerthorpe Forest and Nature Reserve

Allerthorpe Forest and Nature Reserve

Allerthorpe is a little gem about ten minutes from us with a gorgeous woodland perfect for waking the pooch.

East Riddlesden Hall Grounds – Keighley

Ripley Castle Grounds

Lendal Bridge, York

Museum Gardens, York

York is so beautiful and I urge anyone who hasn’t to visit and try not to fall for it’s wonderful charm!

Filey Beach

Filey Beach

One of my favourite beaches. This was the first Beach we brought maximus to and he loved it. Nothing beats the British seaside does it? I will always look at our days on the beach with so much happiness – the fresh sea breeze, mandatory “chippy chips” and endless mugs of Yorkshire tea.

Beningbrough Hall, York

Beningbrough Hall, York

One of my favourite National Trust sites…. yep I’m 24 and what are you going to do about it? So much history and gorgeous flower gardens, a perfect dog friendly walk and a delightful farm shop. Quite simply the perfect day out with friends.

So there it is my Yorkshire in all of its glory. This isn’t even a bit of it! There are so many other places to visit and experience, Harrogate, Ilkley, Leeds the list is endless. Next on my list is the lavender fields which are around the corner from me and Malton’s food festival (plus rumour has it they have an interior shop to die for).

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post. I’d love to hear what you think or if you’ve visited Yorkshire before? I’m off to have a cup of Yorkshire tea to celebrate the rest of Yorkshire Day….. did I say Yorkshire enough in this post?

Until next time,

Outdoor Zen

Hello you lovely lot!
I hope you are all well and enjoying these glorious glimpses of summer! This post is all about my summer garden planning. Hopefully the weather will allow it to happen… but let’s be honest Britain doesn’t have the best track record.

(Chief sunbather and flower bed inspector)

So our garden is a great size for a 2 bed new-build property. However it is extremely boring and one dimensional. Step in my genius father who basically created this idea for me. He will also be completing all the work… me and maximus will just sit quietly and pass tools when needed.

(Our current garden)

I looked at tonnes of gardens on Pinterest to help gather my inspiration and put together some ideas…

(Source: Pinterest – definitely prefer a “wild garden” feel)

(Source: Pinterest – I will definitely be needing a welly store somewhere!)

The plan. Well the plan is essentially to create two spaces to entertain. One will be a lounging come bar area whilst further away will be the cooking and dining area. My dad came up with this idea to a) create an extension of our living space in to an outdoor lounge space and b) because of how the sun moves through the day. So from our French doors there will be decking laid lengthways to provide a continuation from our lounge. Then there will be the grass are for maximus to tear up im sure. Finally the patio slabs that will be replaced by decking will be moved into the far corner to create a dining space.

(Dining space of dreams courtesy of Rock My Style – Pinterest)

Get a dog… it’ll be fun… they said. Then you introduce a garden – game over. Maximus has made a collection of burrows down the edge of our lawn. So these will be replaced with raised flower beds and we will be reinforcing the fence too. It’ll stop him digging… we hope. It’ll also look really cute… again I hope!

(Source: Pinterest)

I’m hoping to make the dining area multi purposeful. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my dad will be able to make some built in benches which I can put plastic trunks in which will be able to store outdoor blankets, pillows, garden utensils etc. Here I will be reinforcing the fence again to add some privacy too. I can never settle on garden furniture so we have decided to build a table ourselves. After discussing what we wanted for a while it was agreed that a metal insert for all the bubbles was an essential. Trust me you are going to love it… see below! #lifeessential

The last thing to be added will be some clever storage. I’d seen so many wheelie bin stores on Instagram and Pinterest… it was a revelation. The idea is it will hold our bins but also have an additional space for the lawn mower and tools.

(Source: Pinterest – love a neutral colour scheme)

I’m so excited to have this space transformed! Viva La BBQ!

Ever Changing Style

Hello you lovely lot!

It’s a bit crazy here at the moment. I’m currently on a training course meaning I’m doing a fair bit of travelling and spending time away from my home comforts… aka Maximus. Anyway after days, weeks, months even of deliberating my living room style I’ve changed my mind… standard behaviour from me to be honest.

When we bought our house I imagined a Scandi theme running throughout the home. However after being here for a while  and embracing the country life I have realised I’m just not cool enough to be #scandi. I will still always be obsessed with the scandi trend and my Pinterest will still be full of minimalist rooms as they are just gorgeous. However I’m having a re-think of my lounge. I want to capture classic design with a nod to modern trends. It will be really hard to go full country bumpkin in a modern home but a little nod won’t go a miss.

So I thought I’d show you guys some of my inspiration and some of my favourite products.

(Pinterest – House Beautiful)

(Pinterest – House Beautiful)

(Pinterest – House Beautiful)

(Pinterest – Kylie M Interiors)

How gorgeous are they?! I feel they are definitely more me and I’ll find it much easier to piece my room together following my style rather than what’s “trendy”. So here are a few products I’m lusting over to add to my lounge…

(The White Company – Milking Stool)

(The White Company – Soft Seagrass Basket)

(Next – Vase)

And some purchases I’ve already made…

(Aldi – galvanised buckets and tray)

(Adorn Decor – concrete vase)

(B&Q – Concrete Star)

(Aldi – glass cloche)

I’m totally okay with not being cool, I know my style and that’s what brings me happiness… and let’s be honest that’s what is the most important thing about your home.

Now just to gently convince my other half…

Wake Up and smell the coffee – with Novello

Good Morning you lovely lot!!

I hope you are all enjoying the month of May. I’ve been pretty quiet on here as I’ve been super busy. I’ve just started a new job and I’m not really sure how I feel about it all. So instead of dwelling on what I’m feeling, I’ve decided to focus on what coffee should be going in my flask for my morning commute…. Priorities right there!

One of my weekend pleasures is to grab a coffee and sit in the sunshine (when it appears) there’s nothing quite like it. I always appreciate a good quality coffee and it’s one of the things in my life I don’t like to compromise on. I’m not really human until my second shot of the day so can you imagine what I would be like if I didn’t like my coffee! Quelle Horror!

As always I love British brands and I love talking about them. There is nothing better than getting a product which has been made with so much passion. Step in Novello (aka British coffee dream team).

Founded in 2014 by sister duo Georgie and Sophie, Novello has gone from strength to strength. Following  university both lovely ladies went into careers within the marketing and business world. This gave them all the experience they needed to make Novello a huge success.

What makes Novello different? Well I have never seen coffee so beautifully packaged. The packaging and presentation makes them perfect gifts. Novello offer pouches, tins, gift sets and capsules. Also the variety of products available mean there is something for everyone. Whether it’s a monthly subscription or a personalised gift for someone special – Novello have you covered.

The quality of the product is obviously key and it goes without saying you will not be disappointed. Offering both tea and coffee as individual orders or within the corporate world these girls are smashing it and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Novello.

I was lucky enough to be sent some wonderful samples. I got to try the Novello signature blend in both ground and capsule form. I also recieved some capsules of the Mocha Java blend. While the coffee was divine I was also blown away with the presentation and how much effort had gone into creating something special – just check out my personal pouch!

The coffee was divine. Rich, intense, smooth and absolutely no bitterness in either blends. I’d say the signature blend was my favourite – you can’t beat a classic. The signature blend features a blend of Guatemalan, Indonesian Java and Ethiopian Mocha beans. The smell is heavenly – a real rich full bodied coffee. While it is very rich there is a very mild fruity finish. For me this makes a wonderful morning coffee but tastes just a good for a mid afternoon pick me up.

I think it is great to switch it up and try new blends and I have to say the mocha java did not dissapoint. Containing beans from Indonesia and Ethiopia this coffee is really well-rounded. I’d say this had a much nuttier/chocolate finish. Perfect for my lazy Sunday brunches.

Look at that crema! Gorgeous

I know I’ll be placing a Novello order very soon and I think I’ll be trying one of their coffee subscriptions. Every fortnight you recieved a blend of coffee. For me I’ll be ordering the capsules which are nespresso compatible – winning! So each fortnight you receive 15 capsules and each month you will recieve information all about the coffee you have purchased. If subscription isn’t your thing then you can go ahead and just buy a one off pouch. Again you can have this to suit your needs capsules, beans, cafetière, espresso or filter. See I wasn’t lying when I said the girls know their stuff!

I think one of the stand out things that comes across when you make a Novello purchase is how much passion and joy goes into making your product. Sophie and Georgie have put a tremendous amount of effort into their brand and when you recieve your goodies – you get it. Every inch of detail has been covered. The customer service and product quality has been put at the forefront and for me this is the sign of a top notch brand that cares for their customer 100%.

So coffee and tea lovers go over to to find out more and check out Novello’s amazing range of products. You can also find the lovely Novello ladies on Instagram @novello_uk

W&W Wishlist: May

Good morning you lovely lot! I’ve been slacking with the posts recently. I suppose life has just taken over a bit. But this is me saying I’m back in the game and I’m hoping the next months will be full of lots of new posts. So as always here’s my monthly Wishlist…

There’s a bit of a botanical feel for this one. We recently bought out garden furniture ready for the decking to be completed. With that in mind I’m trying to make my indoor and outdoor lounge areas blend to provide a feeling of more space and I always find being outdoors so uplifting that it’s nice to capture that indoors.

So first up we have two pieces from Matalan. Matalan is quickly becoming one of my favourite home stores that does not break the bank and provides gorgeous pieces for the home.

Large Tear Drop Lantern – £20.00

Ceramic Hanging Planter – £6.00

I love natural materials in the outdoors. These will be perfect in my garden but I think they would equally look gorgeous in a reading nook or a bathroom.

Now on to H&M home which each season is just getting better and better. My other half is still saying no to the Dalmatian bedding…. we’ll give him a bit more time.

Small Storage Basket – £8.99

Large Stoneware Planter Pot – £19.99

Sticking with the natural materials over here. I adore the plant pot! If it lived in my garden I would be adding some leafy greenery to it making it a standout feature of my lounging area. Again this could equally be brought indoors to the lounge and add a lovely feature to a corner. Also how cute is the storage basket. I’m a bit (read: a huge) neat freak so I need everything to have a home. I’ll be using this to store all my candles and tea lights I use outdoors when entertaining. Makes tidying quick, easy and pretty!

A firm favourite of mine next. Slay My Print have really hit the botanical and tropical trend on the head. They provide the most gorgeous prints to use throughout your home. I just can’t get enough of their botanical range… then they release this beauty as part of their tropical range! Gorgeous.

3 Pinapples – from £6.00

I mean come on just look at it! I’ll be adding this to my growing collection. Now I just need to find some frames so I can start displaying them in my newly decorated lounge!

Last on my list this week is Candelle & Co. I can’t explain how gorgeous this company is. If you haven’t seen my earlier post – heaven scent – Then go check it out to learn more about this company and their delightful wax melts. This month I am featuring their newly launched room spray. It comes in pink prosecco! I mean I was always going to be a fan…. but the spray really does fill the room with very minimal use.

Pink Prosecco Room Spray – Currently £13.50

It’s a Dog’s Life… Salami & Co.

Hello you lovely lot!

I hope you are all well. I can’t believe we are approaching the end of April and it’s snowing… where has spring gone?

Those of you who follow me on Instagram (@welliesandwonder_) will know that last week Maximus turned 1 and well we went big for his birthday and why not?! Dogs bring so much joy to our lives; we should let them know more often 🐾

One of my favourite things to do is to brunch. One of maximus’ favourite things is food. So it was only right to take him somewhere which served food for both humans and hounds. Step in Salami & Co.

Salami & Co is a coffee house in Otley near Leeds. Run by Simon and Lucy, who are also dachshund owners, they have provided a gorgeous setting for both humans and hounds to relax and enjoy beautiful coffee and delicious goodies. All products are home made and Maximus and I can both vouch for how delicious they are!

I can’t even begin to explain how cute the hound menu is! Dog doughnuts, pupcakes, biscuits and the famous puppuccino. I don’t have many pictures of Maximus enjoying his treats because they were gone in 0.5 seconds… if that’s not a 5/5 review then I don’t know what is.

Waiting patiently (that’s debatable) for his doughnut

Pupcake for the birthday boy

Lapping up the famous puppuccino

The interiors. Oh my goodness where do I begin? In short the design is a dream. Blush, brass, geometric and scandi design featuring natural materials. Utter perfection. For something so minimal and “on-trend” there is a real warmth which I think is echoed by Simon and Lucy’s enthusiasm for what they do. They have created a space which screams minimal luxe but you just feel at home and completely at ease.

Would I go again? Absolutely. Would I recommend you make a trip? 100% I have nothing but praise for Salami & Co. finally a place that is hound friendly without being over the top. Salami & Co you are simply perfect 🐾

I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend and fingers crossed we have some sunshine! If you want to stay up to date with all things W&W you can find me over on Instagram @welliesandwonder_

Until next time x
